Defected launch their Producer Competition 2010 in partnership with Traxsource , Ableton and Loopmasters
Following the enormous success of Defected’s Producer Competition last year, we can announce details of a second competition for 2010.
Last year’s competition generated a huge amount of interest from the dance community, clocking up 1,500 entries with close to 20,000 people registering on the site to rate and comment on the tracks. The standard of tracks was of the highest order, but eventually 19 year old Dutch producer Robacco Bossa’s track ‘Black Bird’ was selected as the winner and released on Defected Records. This time around Defected have teamed up with download hub Traxsource, top sample resource Loopmasters and leading production software company Ableton to bring you another chance to hit the big time.
The rules of the competition remain the same; upload your tracks to the site where they’ll be rated and commented on. Phase II of the competition sees the Defected A&R team pick their favourite 10 tracks, which are then voted on by the public.
The competition launches on Monday 25th January and the first phase of the competition will run for four weeks. Then will then be a short break while the final 10 are selected. Once these 10 have been chosen, the final phase of voting will last for 10 days, during which time those in the running will have to promote their track as much as possible and get their friends and fans voting like their careers depended on it!
Last year’s competition proved that there is a wealth of undiscovered talent out there. This is your chance to hit the big time and see your tracks released on one of the most respected labels in the history of house music.

After one month of remixing and another one for choose the contest’s winner, I read on the Bop’s website (via @MedSchoolMusic) that is announced the winner of the Remix Competition.
And the winner is…Thinnen!

Thinnen will receive every Med School release to date from S.P.Y (MEDIC1) to Trisector (MEDIC17), including the Bop album on CD and double vinyl. Massive shout to Thinnen for his wicked remix and also to everyone who took the time to enter the competition, the overall standard was very very high. Although there could only be one overall winner, we’d also like to give a shout to Andy Bubbles, Render, OhTebins, Artik+Dexter and Hoax for their entries which also stood out from the crowd.
